ENVIRONMENT
The two wooden houses of KTIRAKIA are situated on a unique picturesque hillcock of 8 acres and surrounded by green countryside with a magnificent view of the sea, where the higher mountains of Peleponnese ends.
To the closer environment belongs the pictorial port and small fisher-town Gythio in approx. three kilometers distance. There are many shops as well as nice taverns and "cafenions". The town has kept still its Greek originalness as well as the remaining surrounding villages,.
The nearest possiblity for swimming is the sea of Mavrovouni-beach, receivable by car in mostly five, by foot in approx. 15 minutes. The beach is from rough sand, has a length of approximately three kilometers and the sea water is wonderful clean and clear. Numerous small bays, partly with crystal and partly with thick pebbles, contribute at different distances an alternation.
Likewise to estimate are the cultural incentives of the region. For instance the byzantine ruin city Mistras, the fortress place Monemvassia and the area Mani as an landscape of speciall interest, with the famous and magic caves of Diro.
Numerous original villages, nice situated monasteries, small and half expired churches and many other nice places are to discover. Besides one can visit the island Kythira over a daily ferry, for which one must take however an overnight accommodation.
